Student Essay Competition 2021/2022

Did you write your LLB or LLM dissertation on an environmental law topic? Are you writing your doctorate on an environmental law topic?

Why not have your research and writing skills assessed and recognized by some of South Africa’s top environmental law practitioners and academics?

The ELA wishes to support and promote new voices in the field and environment law, and has been running this fantastic essay competition since 2018.

Our 2021/2022 essay competition is open to any student who is currently enrolled at a South African higher education institution (including undergraduate and postgraduate programs) or who completed his/her/their studies in 2021, and whose research concerns an environmental law topic.

Entries close on 31 May 2022. 

Submit your essay and proof of registration via email to AND and stand to win a cash prize of R3000, book prizes, plus a chance to publish and present your essay! Indicate whether you are entering the undergraduate or postgraduate category of the competition. Students engaged in or who have completed their LLB studies are eligible to enter the undergraduate category.
